Be Prepared for Challenges!

The path to your destiny that God has in mind for each of you is fraught with different challenges. So, you need to expect them. In fact, it’s important to prepare yourself to face them. In the Book of Proverbs it says, ” A sensible man watches for problems ahead and prepares to meet them.” Wouldn’t you rather look ahead and prepare, instead of looking back with regret?! I have tried to follow this philosophy as I’ve gone through life: Prepare for the worst, but expect the best! This allows me to keep a positive attitude toward life but, at the same time, not get “surprised” when things occasionally go wrong.

Things are going to go wrong. That’s just life. The road to success has many potholes. I love it that the Bible doesn’t sugarcoat this. Have you wondered why God would allow some of His “best and brightest” to be recorded as some of the biggest failures?! It’s to give us hope. He wants us to know that nobody performs flawlessly. Great men like Abraham, Moses, David, Elijah and Peter all messed up somewhere along the way. In each case, they got back up, dusted themselves off and continued down the road. Those potholes on that road to success are going to cause you to stumble. And when you fall into one, it’s messy.

Since failure is inevitable (and again… this is NOT being negative, it is simply looking at life realistically! Are there any coaches reading this who’re still undefeated after 10 years? 15 years? 25 years???), why not make it your friend? You examine each experience and grow stronger through it. Once you learn to do that, you won’t keep making the same mistakes and you’ll become more emotionally and spiritually stable.

As you walk the road to your God-given dream, you need to remember the old Italian proverb: “Between saying and doing, many a pair of shoes is worn out.” Well, no problem… you buy another pair of shoes. You just need to be sure that you don’t wear out and give up.

Here’s God’s promise for you: “Keep traveling steadily along His pathway and in due season He will honor you with every blessing” (Psalm 37:34).
